Why Action Matters
By Stephen Godfrey - Reading Time: 2 minutes
The Time To Act Is Now
Do you have a goal you keep putting off?
Do you read article after article, blog post after blog post, but you never create anything yourself?
Then this article is for you.
And hopefully, it’s the last one that you will read this week.
But you might ask “why?”. And it’s because I want you to act. I want you to think about what you’ve always wanted to do. Think about your dream career. Think about a pet project, a task, or a place to visit. And then do something today that gets you closer to that goal.
Don’t do more research. Don’t read more blog posts. Don’t read more articles. You have read enough content.
Now is the time to act.
You know more than you think you do. You are more skilled than you believe. But you won’t get anywhere without action. You won’t get anywhere without hustle.
You don’t need to know everything before you start. You can just learn as you go.
And as you work towards your goal you’ll naturally start to learn. Think of it as learning on the job. And by learning on the job you’ll gain more experience. You’ll know more than if you had just read about it.
You can do what’s called “Just in time learning” This is a method that Pat Flynn uses, and here’s the basic premise:
“Only allow yourself to consume information about the task and project you’re working on right now. That’s it!”
So instead of consuming more content learn by doing. You’ll know more about the subject AND you’ll actually get things done.
Just start with what you have, and learn while you go.
For instance, say you wanted to start a podcast. If you focused on learning before acting then you’d do things like this: you might get a few books on podcasting. You might take a course or two. You might think about the perfect idea. And then, only then, would you start your podcast.
But what if you just bought the microphone, stand, and filter, and started making a podcast? Sure your first few episodes wouldn’t be that good (are they ever?), but you’d HAVE a podcast. You’d have more experience. You could even have a few interviews lined up which would help you build relationships with thought leaders. The best part is that you can always learn WHILE you are making the podcast. After you have made an episode or two then feel free to read that ebook. But always keep creating while you learn.
And in the first scenario, it would take you 2 months before your first podcast episode was done. Yet the second scenario is different. In 2 months you’d already have 8-9 podcast episodes. And you’d already know a whole lot more about podcasting because you’ve learned through DOING.
But does this method work for everything? No. If you are designing things like bridges, space shuttles, nuclear reactors, or something where physical life depends on it then you should plan and plan well.
For almost everything else you just need to act. You need to stop lying to yourself that you’ll do it someday.
So stop waiting.
Get up.
Get going.
And do the work that you were meant to do.

P.S Do you scramble to find more work every month? Are you tired of low-paying work? Well, let’s change that. I consistently make over $10,000 a month freelancing, and I can show you how I do it.
So, are you ready to invest in yourself?
If so, take a little training that will give you huge results down the road. And I recommend you start with this course. In there you’ll learn how to find more clients, how to raise your rates, and why you need to specialize. In short, you’ll be put on the path to make over $10,000 a month like I do.
And you can do this! You just need a little more training and to improve your skills.
See you on the inside.
